In response to a powerful seasonal storm, locals in Golovin, a small indigenous village in Alaska, acknowledge how their community and lifestyle are imperiled by rapidly changing climactic and ecological conditions. Deb, a schoolteacher, remembers how her mother always told her to live off the land and sea, a practice now difficult to realize. Isma, the village healer, worries about the feasibility of a plan to move the village further inland onto safer ground. And Charlie, the mayor, navigates a byzantine government bureaucracy to help his community prepare for the future. Regardless of such afflictions, they share why they love living in Golovin, alongside their hopes for the future.
